How Verification Works

Badges show only the specific checks below, each with the date it was last checked. They are not an endorsement, and records can change — always confirm with the issuing agency. Licenses are checked against state public records where available. Each profile shows the source and date of the last check.

Listed

The Licensed Pro created a profile. No other check is implied.

License Matched

The license number the Licensed Pro entered matches the Florida DBPR public licensing file exactly, the business or qualifier name closely matches the DBPR licensee or DBA name, the DBPR status is Active, and the license is not expired. For new Licensed Pros, our team also calls the phone number or address on the DBPR record (not the number the applicant gave us) to confirm the applicant controls the license. We import the DBPR file weekly.

Badge text: “FL License {number} matched DBPR public record – Active – expires {MM/YYYY}.” If the license becomes inactive or expires, the badge is removed automatically and that Licensed Pro cannot be the Best Value pick.

Documents on File

An admin reviewed and approved the Licensed Pro’s local Business Tax Receipt, a current certificate of general liability insurance, and proof of workers’ compensation or a Florida DFS exemption. Licensed Pros get reminders 30 and 7 days before a document expires; when one expires, the badge is removed automatically.

Top Rated

A combined rating of 4.5 or higher across at least 10 reviews, with no public discipline flag. Self-reported third-party ratings count at half weight and are tagged “Self-reported”.

Public discipline records

For Florida construction licenses, we compare Licensed Pros against DBPR discipline, unlicensed activity and Recovery Fund lists. A match shows “Public discipline record. View on DBPR” on the profile.
